A few simple preparations make the flight day better — for you and for everyone on board.
Even a confirmed flight can be cancelled or moved at short notice, sometimes on the same morning. Low cloud, wind or poor visibility decide. Keep the day flexible and treat the flight as weather-dependent until the pilot gives the final go.
The cabin is comfortable, but a helicopter can land away from the airfield if conditions require it. Wear clothes and shoes that would keep you warm and dry outdoors in the current weather for a longer period, just in case. Layers, a windproof jacket and sturdy shoes are always right.
The large windows that give the view also let in strong sunlight. Bring sunglasses and use sunscreen. On a bright day you are more exposed in the cabin than you would expect.
Space and weight are limited. A small bag with a camera, phone and a bottle of water is plenty. Larger luggage stays on the ground. Loose items must be secured before departure.
Plan to be at the meeting point about 15 minutes before the agreed time. Before departure there is a short safety briefing: how to approach the helicopter, seatbelts, headsets and what to expect. No prior experience is needed.
Never walk behind the helicopter. Moving around helicopter requires sharp situational awareness. Walk only in the pilot's sightline, approach and depart from the front 180 degrees, and never walk toward the rear or tail rotor, even when the engine is shut down.
You are encouraged to take photos and film — the view is the point. Make sure your phone or camera has a strap or can be held securely, and charge it fully before the flight.
We meet at the public parking lot right next to the airfield. The pilot will meet you at the parking area and escort you onto the aerodrome. The exact time is confirmed before the flight — pay attention to the specific meeting point.
